TV Titan Shonda Rhimes Lists L.A. Mansion for $10 Million

The creator of Grey's Anatomy and Scandal puts her stunning 8,000-square-foot Hancock Park property on the market

The queen of primetime, Shonda Rhimes, has listed her Hancock Park mansion for $9.9 million.

Rhimes, who signed a four-year, $25-million deal with Netflix last year after 15 years with ABC Studios, bought the 8,300-square-foot house in 2010 from Grammy Award winning–musician Beck for around $5.6 million.

Built in the 1920s, the home boasts six bedrooms, six bathrooms, and three half bathrooms. A sprawling open-plan kitchen has state-of-the-art appliances and opens onto a cozy family room. The living room has a carved stone fireplace and French doors that lead out to the spacious backyard. The master suite sits in its own wing of the house and has a sitting area, two walk-in closets, two bathrooms and a projection television system. The second floor is lined with wrought iron Juliet balconies, looking down on to the back of the property.

The back lawn is made of faux grass, a sensible choice for the drought-prone region. Rhimes repurposed a 600-square-foot cabana into a luxurious entertainment lounge, complete with a wet bar and a fireplace.

A detached three-car garage and a lap-lane swimming pool are also on the property.

The house is listed with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices.
