This ‘collector’s retreat’ features striking works of art by Helmi Juvonen, Jean Cocteau, Alberto Giacometti, Mark Tobey, and Guy Anderson

Inspired by Manhattan’s famed Chelsea Hotel, this “collector’s retreat” designed by Rocky Rochon of Rocky Rochon Studio made a striking statement at the Galerie House of Art and Design in Sag Harbor. “I’ve always been really attracted to the Chelsea,” says Rochon, who utilized works by some of the bohemian enclave’s resident artists, among them Doris Chase and Morris Graves, when planning the room. Working with the Paint Laboratory, Rochon also conceived an experimental paint color infused with steel dust. “When you get close to it you can see the particulate in the paint, and you can feel it in the texture of it,” he explains. Adding allure to the suite are several Rocky Rochon Body Parts furniture pieces, such as the desk chair and daybed.

Watch Rochon give a tour of the space below.
